Protein Encapsulation

Following the successful development of monoclonal antibody microspheres for use in immunodiagnostic assays, Q Chip is currently developing a platform for the production of stable protein microspheres using biodegradable polymers such as PLA, PLG and PLGA. The process uses solvents considered to be more protein compatible than those used in alternatives such as double emulsion and spray drying in addition to providing the tight size range afforded by MicroPlant technology.

This approach will address the current delivery issues related to bioencapsulation of proteins where the manufacture of stable sustained release formulations may be challenging. The development pipeline includes biotherapeutics such as HGH, G-CSF and selected mAbs.
