The Q-Sphera platform is a bioresorbable microsphere formulation and production system.
Unlike traditional batch processes, the Q-Sphera system offers semi-continuous processing and is still compatible with aseptic manufacturing requirements.
Microspheres are made in a serial process with an individual processing time of under 5 seconds (droplet to solid sphere). Each microsphere undergoes the same manufacturing conditions from beginning to end, which results in a uniform product.
This results in reduced product waste as no post process sieving is required to fractionate the microsphere product to within the desired range.
The system avoids the complexities of volumetric scale up due to it's modular design. Production levels are increased by the addition of parallel units.
The system operates at ambient temperature using only FDA class III solvents, making it more suitable for manufacture of pharmaceutical formulations and regulatory compliance.
